The 2022 Automotive Testing Expo-Europe was held from June 21-23 in Stuttgart, Germany as usual this year. Industry leaders in the automotive testing industry gathered together to exhibit their new technologies. All attendees enjoyed socializing after suffering from isolation during the global pandemic. Our team connected with current and new contacts to discuss the latest innovative technologies provided by Crystal Instruments environmental testing and data acquisition systems.
Read moreCalculating the RMS of a Random Profile
There are two common ways to interpret the frequencies between each breakpoint in the Random profile. The most common method is Log-Log (meaning the log of the amplitudes scales with the log of the frequencies.) Another method is Log-Linear, where the log of the amplitudes scales directly with the frequencies).
In this post, we will show how to calculate the acceleration, velocity and displacement RMS values of a Log-Log and Log-Linear Random profile.

Read moreModal Testing to Improve Team Icewave’s Battle Performance
Written in collaboration between PCB Piezotronics, Inc., Crystal Instruments, and Team Icewave
Icewave has an overall record of seven wins and six losses. Marc DeVidts, Icewave creator and team lead, believes some of the losses may have been due to the blade not impacting opponents effectively. Because of the power behind Icewave, some of these losses can be attributed to self-inflicted damage from its own rotating horizontal blade. The modal testing will be used to help increase striking effectiveness.
