Software Engineer
Crystal Instruments is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer as its business grows at a fast and steady pace. This role requires a background in Computer Science with knowledge and troubleshooting skills to assist in software development. Our stack is Windows .NET (C#) desktop development.
This position is located at the Kannapolis, North Carolina office.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with a distributed and remote software development team in building new software features and fixing bugs
Develop custom software solutions for one-off customer-facing integration projects
Manage source code repository and software release process
Perform quality assurance (QA) processes for each software release version (2 major releases of per year, along with minor bug patch releases)
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
BS in Computer Science
US citizen or Permanent Resident
Experience in C/C++, C#, Microsoft .NET
Experience with version control systems
Strong technical documentation writing skills

Application Engineer (Noise and Vibration)
Crystal Instruments is seeking an Application Engineer as its business grows at a fast and steady pace. This role requires a mechanical engineering background and expertise combined with organization, outstanding presentation, and communication skills.
Two openings are available for this position. One position is located at the Kannapolis, North Carolina office and another position is located at the Santa Clara, California office.
Primary Responsibilities:
Help the engineering group develop products (including design and test)
Provide guidance to product development and quality assurance department
Assist in technical writing of manuals and marketing materials
Develop application examples using Crystal Instruments products
Review and improve the products and software interface
Perform product demonstration to potential customers and help with sales efforts
Support existing product installations
Provide support to management team in the sales process as the technical product resource
Support basic marketing efforts
Some travel may be required
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
2 years’ work experience preferred
Good understanding to mechanics and vibration
Experience with data acquisition systems, vibration testing, or vibration control systems preferred
Strong technical writing skills
Excellent communications skills in a customer-focused environment
Knowledge in software programming a plus
Must be friendly, social, presentable and professional

Mechanical Engineer
Crystal Instruments is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for mechanical components development including designing and validating the new testing fixture and vibration testing equipment. Specific job duties include:
This position is located at the Santa Clara, California office.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, improve and execute installation and operation procedures of vibration control system products including those for permanent magnetic / electrodynamic / hydraulic shakers, slip tables, and head expenders.
Troubleshoot vibration test systems which may involve hydraulic, pneumatic sub-systems such as vibration controller, accelerometers and amplifiers.
Develop, plan and perform vibration (Sine, Random, SoR, RoR) and shock tests, evaluate test results, write test reports by interacting with customers for test requirements.
Perform shock and vibration test fixture design and analysis for the DUT, provide guidance for fixture fabrication.
Analyze vibration or noise issues for specific customer application using vibration testing and modal analysis.
Develop and test alternate mechanical designs and testing methods to improve feasibility, efficiency and explore possible new applications.
Analyze preliminary engineering-design concepts of major products to satisfy operational needs by planning and defining resources needed to maintain new and existing equipment, perform routine planned and predictive maintenance.
Required Skills and Experience:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Systems or related fields plus 3 months’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Research Assistant or related. Experience must include: three (3) months of vibration analysis experience.

Manufacturing Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:
Develops manufacturing processes of electronic board and devices by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
Develops manufacturing procedures for assembling and testing electronic boards and devices.
Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
Develops and verifies the testing procedures for the hardware products
Manages the BOM, manufacturing, assembly and testing of various Crystal Instruments’ product lines.
Develops and executes the instrument calibration process; writes the procedures and verifies the product performance
Works with the vendors to execute the product manufacturing, assembly and testing if necessary
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related
Good understanding to mechanics and electrical engineering
Hands-on skills in PCB assembly and electro-mechanical assembly
Strong technical writing skills
Experience with writing detailed procedures for assembly and test.
