Crystal Instruments and Sentek Dynamics attended the 90th Shock and Vibration Symposium in Atlanta, GA.  Topics covered at the symposium included shock-ship testing, water shock, weapons effects (air blast, ground shock, cratering, penetration) shock physics, earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, and shock and vibration instrumentation and experiment techniques. In addition to the technical sessions, there was a wonderful keynote address from NASA astronaut Harrison Schmitt. He discussed his experience of landing on the moon in the Apollo 17 mission and the important role of shock and vibration science in the overall process.

Highlighted at this year’s show in the exhibition hall was Crystal Instruments Multi-Resolution Spectrum Analysis software. The method of multi-resolution spectrum developed by Crystal Instrument can successfully generate a spectrum with two or more stages of frequency resolution. It has been successfully used in Random vibration control, general dynamic signal analysis and modal testing, offering a 100x improvement to the estimation accuracy.
