FAIM International Conference in Porto, Portugal (June 18 – June 22, 2023)

The FAIM (Flexible Automation and Intelligent Manufacturing) International Conference series has been held in 26 cities across 14 countries in Europe, America, and Asia, addressing aspects of technology and management. The 32nd FAIM International Conference, FAIM 2023, celebrates 32 years of continuous presence in the international manufacturing scene. This year’s conference also signifies a landmark for FAIM’s steering, organizational and scientific standards.

FAIM 2023 was hosted by the Polytechnic Institute of Porto along with other universities in northern Portugal. These educational institutions are the main support for northern Portugal’s industrial research and development sector. The School of Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto has an enrollment of 7.000 students (from a total of 22.000 enrolled students) and is one of two major engineering talent providers for an increasing number of Portuguese and international companies that choose northern Portugal to install industrial research and development centers.

Our distributor in Portugal, Kistler Ibérica presented Crystal Instruments technologies during the conference. Attendees were able to learn about our latest solutions and newest technological innovations for environmental testing and data acquisition.

Demonstrations were provided to explain the advancements in multi-channel environmental testing using the Spider-80Xi platform. The Spider-80Xi platform provides users with large expandable and flexible systems for vibration testing, data acquisition and structural testing. The Spider-81 vibration test controller was also demonstrated with our IA20N mini-Shaker. Both hardware platforms can combine to create larger channel systems.

Structural testing solutions for modal analysis were also highlighted, including applications with impact hammer testing, large GVT solutions, and modal analysis for large structures.
