Test Group feature in EDM Vibration Control Software
This article discusses a new EDM 11.0 release feature called Test Group, which organizes multiple tests into sections, to run in sequence, and shares test configurations. EDM allows users to configure and re-use the same test for the same or different objects. All configurations and test parameters are applied to a single test. Settings can be loaded and applied to a new test from a saved library. Test configurations are easily shared by sharing just the test file.
When multiple test types or a single test type with different configurations are required, configuring each change becomes a challenge (e.g., sensor replacement, change of shaker orientation) because the user is required to manually update parameters for every test.
The new Test Group feature addresses this issue by listing all required tests for a UUT together. Progress can be displayed, and users can organize tests into sections. The input channel and shaker parameters act as a global setting for all tests listed in a Test Group.
Application example:
The Test Group feature allows users to create and configure tests into groups. The Input Channel option functions as a global setting parameter to configure sensor information for all tests as a one-time entry. Similar to the Input Channels, CI has added the functionality to allow a one-time configuration of Shaker Parameters to remain constant for all tests in a test group.
Configurations of multiple control channels are also supported by the Test Group feature. When multiple control channels are configured, the configuration is applied to all tests in the test group and the control strategy is set as weighted average. An option to switch between single or multiple control channels is available.
