The International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) partnered with Amazon.com to develop the 6-Amazon.com testing series to challenge the capability of packages and products to withstand transportation standards while utilizing the general simulation of actual transport hazards. Please note that these tests may not comply with carrier packaging regulations and are designed only to address transportation hazards. Two categories of tests are provided:
Test Project 6-Amazon.com-SIOC: general simulation testing for “Ships in Own Container” (SIOC) packaged products to challenge the capability of both the package and product to withstand commonly occurring transportation hazards.
Test Project 6-Amazon.com-Over Boxing: general simulation testing for products placed into master shipping containers (over box). The over box can contain a solitary product with dunnage or multiple packaged products with dunnage added for shipment. The packages are tested to withstand general hazards, conditions, and damaging forces of the transportation environment.
Users can customize a Crystal Instruments’ Random Vibration Testing System to address the 6-Amazon.com testing requirements. Crystal Instruments also provides a complete environmental testing system by combining the Spider-101 temperature and humidity controller with a Spider-81 or Spider-80X vibration controller. The THV Environmental Testing system provides one comprehensive testing report for the user’s convenience.
